Hauntingly beautiful HSC artwork in acrylic

We are often asked to produce acrylic display boxes for customers and on occasion they come back to us with photos of how they were used. We were stunned by the impact of these artworks created by Hannah for her HSC artwork. It’s no surprise to us that she received 100% in her trials. Flat pack furniture as you’ve never seen it before.

When business owner David of emagine International relocated his team of programmers and engineers to a funky warehouse space in Ultimo NSW one of his goals was to create a fun but practical environment with an industrial look.

Emagine, www.emagineinternational.com create telecommunications customer retention software and David’s challenge was to accommodate his team at workstations fostering idea exchange and collaboration as well as providing flexibility to scale up when required.

Who better to help David than his brother Andrew – framer and furniture designer?

(Did I mention Andrew and his business www.justframes.com.au are based in Tasmania?)

Andrew set to work designing and then fabricating the workbenches (pictured) along with a separate office table for David, with a generous return for hosting impromptu meetings. Working with industrial ply and taking a leaf from that ‘Swedish Store’ he designed the units to pack flat for shipping from Tasmania to Ultimo NSW. He also contacted Australian Plastic Fabricators with his specifications for acrylic tabletops to be cut to size and edges flame polished.

With only a weekend to complete the fit out, in a triumph of logistics planning – the flat packed furniture arrived, Andrew arrived, and the acrylic tabletops were delivered on-site by APF.

All put together like clockwork by Andrew.

David and his team are enjoying the new workspace and particularly their workstations featuring a remarkable combination of industrial ply and acrylic, revealing some very clever joinery.

We’ve been busy in the factory, experimenting with some new techniques – like etching into acrylic. Here’s a snap of an early trial. We think this could be quite cool, but let us know what you think? What would you like to see?
